1040EZ Form - Lines 12b, 12c, and 12d
If you are going to get a refund, payment can come in one of two forms; (1) a check will be mailed to you or (2) the IRS will directly deposit your refund into your checking or savings account. The advantage to doing a direct deposit is that the money is transferred instantly and there isn't the chance that a check will get lost or stolen in the mail. The disadvantage is that if you provide incorrect account information the IRS will be unable to track down your refund and get it to you.
If you want to receive your refund through direct deposit you need to obtain a check from your checkbook and enter the routing number for your bank, the first 9 digits in the lower left-hand corner of the check, in Line 12b. You then need to check if your account is a checking or savings account in Line 12c. Lastly you need to obtain your account number, it should be on your check, and place these numbers on Line 12d.
